One of the many reasons why vampire had stayed in the dark for as long as they had was there was strength in numbers. Which was one of the many things that made mankind as dangerous as it could be. The strength of their numbers meant that despite how much power a vampire had there was always the threat that the herd would turn on them eventually.
Nicholas had spent the better part of the year fending off the fey and he was done playing by their rules keeping the war in the shadows where they would eventually win. It had taken several actions of an immense scale to do what he had and now it was here He moved to the podium the flashes going off and the bright lights of the camera all but painfully bright he smiled. It was warm open and all too human. He looked right left and then center fixing those at home with the most open greeting possible.
“Ladies and gentleman of the gathered press. Those of you at home and around the world. I want to take the time thank you each and everyone for making this possible. This is a momentous first that has not come without a lot of hard work. There is much more to do and before my term is over I assure you we will accomplish much of it. Together.”
Smiling he stepped away form the podium tomorrow he would be sworn in and take the public as well as actual reins of the city. He would be unassailable b the fey’s normal means as well as proof against the normal ebb and flow of vampire politics. It was the master stroke for now. There really was strength in numbers.
