There it was a pulse of hot heavy feline strength. Lord stopped in his tracks. He was just reaching for the door to enter when he felt it. It wasn’t a summons it was a declaration of here I am. He could ignore it and conclude his business here with the master of the city first. That wasn’t really an option sure as he felt it he was sure Nicholas felt it as well. He would be remiss if he didn’t address this first. He hoped the source was the missing Regina if not then there really would be trouble amongst the ranks. He was hoping to consolidate the lions of the area into an actual Pride he wouldn’t be able to easily if there was any challengers before he’d even really started.
He looked to the bouncer and spoke clearly but forcefully. “Tell Mister February that I will be back. Somethings come up.” Turning on a dime he hurried back to the G Class at a jog. He had his driver get out and left word to follow at a distance. Meaning they’d give him a head start and keep his location fixed via the vehicles GPS. Paranoid, maybe but just because you were paranoid didn’t mean there wasn’t someone out to get you.
It was twenty minutes from where he was to Griffith Park. He’d make it in ten. Exiting the vehicle he threw his shields open announcing his arrival. He wanted no misunderstandings between them. Whoever she was would be able to feel his strength sincerity and control. He wasted no time scenting the wind and moving towards that ball of feminine strength. As he closed he took in her scent first then her looks. Would wonders never cease standing her was the mysterious Sasha Riese in the flesh. Her blonde lock catching the moonlight turning it into something borderline magical.
“Sasha. I have been looking high and low for you. You are not an easy woman to find.” He called out as the stepped closer to her. He stayed at conversational range so as to not spook startle or otherwise provoke a response. “My names Lord and I am the only other Rex in the area what do say lets talk?”

Nic wiped the mist from the mirror. He knew it had been some time since lord had contacted him. He actually was anxious in as much as Nic ever really felt anything for the club to come to fruition. He had heard that the club was running into small problems, he had already had the solution handy. He would put him In touch with the counselor that he met. His business card was still tucked away where those that had a value for a future date was. Everyone could use a good lawyer and Nic was no exception.
The pulse of Lord was right at the front door. Think of the devil. Nic chuckled to himself. He knew this would meeting would happen eventually. It was just coincidence that it happened as his thoughts had lingered on that subject. A silent roar of energy raced past Nicolas. It pulled at the smile that he was wearing. The rush was little more than a echo of what Sasha could do if she wanted to. She was not in the building she was far enough away as to be hidden unless Nic had actually wanted to go to her.
A soft sigh escaped Nic. Finally this was going to happen. He had been waiting for this moment for a while now. The pride was about to sort itself out without him having to get any further involved. Either Sasha would best Lord and continue to be the Regina or Lord would best her and she would fall under him or by the way side. Either way worked, although if truth was to be told Nic was slightly more hopeful in a partnership with the Rex as they saw thing more eye to eye and they could have a better working relationship. Whereas the regina and nic had a more forceful relationship. Either way Nic would make it work so it mattered little.

Remy walked into the club as if he owned the place. He didn’t fit in and didn’t try to. He’d been back on the coast long enough to know he didn’t like he endless posturing and preening. He loathed it so much he did everything in his power to keep anyone in his circle to lose the mask that nearly every Angelenos wore. He came here angry and that had never really left. He’d become more focused but he was far from ever calm. If he had been a man prone to believe in therapy he would have been told that such constant feelings were the cause of his often debilitating headaches. Luckily he wasn’t one who believed and simply either drank or fucked the pain away. When they started he was shocked now the headaches were a friend and unwelcomed friend but a friend all the same.
He wasn’t sure what the Master had instructed his staff to do but as of late only the waitresses or bartenders came near him. He didn’t mind the more space he had the better he felt. He’d had a few calls with a few of the wolves still back home. He didn’t like what they’d told him so he was here. To ask a favor of the one being he was even more loathed to owe anything to. He knew asking what he was set to would cost him dearly but certain costs he was willing to pay.
Moving up into VIP where Nicholas held court and kept his offices Remy waited at the door composing himself then knocked letting himself in as he did. Smiling he said “Nicholas I have a great favor to ask of you and know you are busy so I will be brief. Could you arrange safe passage for me to visit New Orleans.” He knew that Gates had closed the doors of the city to any nest but despite Nola being so small there were still hundreds of ways that he would be able to stay off the Masters radar. Not to mention if his trip was an official sort of anything it would grant him some protection against what could happen.

Nic was sitting on the shair with his feet up on the ottoman when Remy walked in. Doing his best to acknowledge the snake, and yet fold the kernel down into himself of annoyance that he felt. Listening to Remy’s request Nic was uncertain rather to laugh out loud or begin looking for the camera. It was obvious that Remy was attempting a prank of some sort. In his mind he saw the emoji, but outwardly the only visual notification that Nicolas had hear him was that the vampire had looked up from the drink that he was busy nursing. The snake was mad, now the question was he mad in a physical or a mental sense. Nicolas drained the anger away from the snake. Using the anger to add spice to his drink.
“I do not believe I heard you. My ears must have failed. Let me make sure I understand. You barely escaped with your life, have a standing kill order on you for New Orleans yet you want to go back? The question is not can I give you safe passage, it is what incentive do I have to dispose of an very useful asset? What is so important that you would risk your life thrice and indebt yourself to such a extent that you are will to be totally mine. As whatever payment that you would owe me for this favor, will cost me dearly and will cost you at the very least three and a half times that.”
Nic picked back up his drink now that Remy’s rage and coalesced bonding itself to the alcohol magically. The drink bubbled a bit and a wisp of smoke could be seen waifing from the cup. Nic know that whatever the reason for such Remy much have felt he was desperate and had to have it. Which was perfect that was exactly where Nic liked those who he dealt with.

Remy sighed as he began to pace. Nicholas was working his magic on him. He felt it in his bones as the surface of his anger began to cool. It had happened before so he knew what was taking place yet instead of diluting his anger it focused it. It pared the incidental aspects of his fury down into a focused black hole of dark matter. It also granted him a certain clarity. One which he normally would never have been able to see let alone vocalize.
Stopping his pacing at Nicholas’s desk he leaned against hit his hands in fist holding his weight in his arms. “Come on Nicholas. You heard me it is the most simple of requests. Grant me the full banner of your protection so that I can return to New Orleans to take care of a personal issue. By the fact I am here asking and willing to risk becoming your slave outright. By the fact I am willing to risk death should be reason enough to consider it. Gates may be the high muck a muck in the Big Easy, but sure as shit stank you are a Master to be reckoned with. He wouldn’t dare disrespect you by starting a beef wi’ you. Do this and I promise not only to return but I and my nest will not only be your eyes and ears we will be your enforcers your will given life. Anyone and anything that offends ya in the least bit will meet a very painful death.”
Daring what he had seldom done in their meetings in the past Remy opened himself meeting the mans eyes. He was as sincere and open as he had ever been. More open and directly honest than he would ever dare to be with a vampire. He was offering all that he was for the chance to find out what happened to his friend Guillaume. His brother had sent word that the last place he was seen was Chicago. Now the Chicago Rex was in New Orleans at least for a few days. If word was to be believed Chicago was a hub run by the Lycanthropes. If rumor is to be even partially believed Chicago was the one place the strong could survive and the weak would certainly die. He’d gone to Guy’s funeral hearing that his death was not true filled Remy with hope. Then to have it dashed was a crime to his sense of self he would not allow to stand.
He would get the truth even if he had to kidnap the man and beat it out of him with a rusty pipe.

Nic looked the snake over. He knew whatever the problem, that which drove the snale back to the big easy, was going to be huge. At this point the best that Nic could do was to migigate the damage as best he could, as well as control the situation the best he could. as the he knew the snake truly believed that the problem was far worst that he cold image this was going to be going to be a major problem.
“I will do this however I shall give you two conditions as this is my name on the line and vampires have long memories. 1 you will not murder any of those that Gates calls his own in new Orleans. Second go home give me two days, during your trip you shall have two of your nest stay with me as my guest these guest will be female and my property until you return. I shall speak with the master of Orleans and arrange for you to leave, however youe understand that from the time you leave on your personal mission that you and the nest are my instruments of vengeance. My will given flesh and I will expect that you and your people will accept my request permanently and without question.”
Nic settled into his chair, and picked up the phone he was going to call Gates and inform him of Remy wish to return. Meeting the master would be a bad situation for the snake. That was obvious, bad as well as fatal. As Remy was his property as far a vampire politic went, Nic figured probably Gates most likely won't kill him. however if they can pull this off Gates would prove somewhat trustful at least as a ally. althought the price is sure to be high. The snake needed reason to return to the city. Nic knew would have to speak careully. provide what he needed and then prepare for the unexpected. If the snake mission went sideways during the his time in Orleans. Everything could burn because of it. Which was why NIcolas took a hostage. Remy would be far less likely to abandon his nest or the members of his nest to Nic. if he knew that him losing his temper could get them tortured and killed.

Sighing Remy knew it was a fair price or as fair as any vampire would exact. He however would trade another for himself. He had to refuse. It pained him to be here asking for such a boon to begin with. It pained him to need the help but he did. He would not compound things by placing one who counted on him in harms way.
“No. Two days is too long I am not sure how long my target will be in the city. I won’t give you a nest member as hostage for my actions I will give you myself. Everything I have and all that entails to do with as you please except my Nest. I am desperate but I will not barter away one of their lives as if they were chattel. I am sorry to ask this of you but I need to know what happened and this is the only way I can think of. Your help any you can provide will place me in your debt completely.”
There were n assurances Remy could give aside from his word. The true test of their working arrangement would be whether Nicholas was willing to allow that to stand for something.

Nic looked at the snake, as the drink hissed and popped gently. Nic stood up and looked back over the crowd. His breath came in a slow practiced exhale. He knew this plan was still in his infancy and not completely thought out. This is the way that the mortals thought. Such temporal beings the ideal of tomorrow as abstract as they could go Vampires… masters thought in terms of next year, next decade, tomorrow does not even register.
“My viper, I understand the need for your haste, however if these are the terms of your contract and are immutable then I would have to decline and our business is done. Vampires as a race have three main motivations. Masters are even moreso. Their city, their reputations, and lastly their lives. Everything else is secondary, what you ask of me violated both the city and my reputations, and yet you asked me to ransom it all and are not willing to give me anything back. No assurances to assuage my worry. If you are captured then for Gates if he so chose to, he could claim that is an act of war, and I would be standing alone infront of the counsel, or killed and my city taken. If you cause a scene or are implicated in any violence there again from the Gate’s point of view it is an act of war. My city is lost and my life forefeit and the only assurance I have is your word that you will not be seen, nor will you cause any sort of issue yet you want me to call in as many favors as it take to allow you passage.”
Nicolas refreshed his drink in silence. He wanted the words that he imparted to the snake to sink into his mind’s eye. He wanted the snake to take a second and really decide what he wanted to do. Before any plans moved into place. he wanted Remy to be sure really sure of what he asked before he set into motion things that could not change. He sat back in his chair and watched the snake the coldness of the grave settled in his eyes as he awaited the next move.

Remy wanted to balk at the term ‘my viper’ he didn’t as eve through the haze of his anger he realized the long dead monster was traveling across the ground of this issue lightly as he could. He was dispassionate but he was dare Remy think it careful. He didn’t extend any heartfelt sympathy but he didn’t trample Remy’s hopes merely sat the terms as they were. The realities that existed outside of Remy’s need for answers. If he was being completely honest he would have to admit part of the request was in fact to tweak the Masters nose. He knew the city in ways no vampire ever could. He knew ways to maneuver and stay off of their radar provided he didn’t cause a body count. He couldn’t promise that as in the end he was trained not so much to fight but to kill on sight.
Sighing as the thread of hope which bolstered him dissipated in a fire of reason Remy cleared his throat. “Nicholas. I know what I am asking for is an immense favor and I haven’t earned it but time is of the essence. I can not think of a better time or place to extract the information. I wouldn’t dare going to Chicago as that was not only where he disappeared but where my other problems reside. I also know that Chicago is unlike any other city. They have been in a state of war for years and from what I understand they are the only city to stand against the American and European Councils and yet live.”
Moving closer to Nicholas so tat he could feel the driving sincerity and honesty in him. Remy continued, “Gates took my city from me. He scattered my Nest to the wind. I want no part of him or his Kiss I do want to know what happened to my friend. I need to know so that I can at least make peace with it and grant his family the same. If the answer is no, the answer is no; but is there nothing you can do? Nothing you can think of that will indebt me to you in gratitude that can help. Grant peace to me and the family Baudry des Lozieres. The elder twin is the Ulfric of the New Orleans Pride. Peace of mind can not be rated too highly.”
He would not relent he would not just lay fallow. He was trying what he had never before done. He was communicating. He was asking for help. He was attempting to be better than he had been and if the answer was no if there was no help to be had he would lay siege to New Orleans, Chicago, and every city he could to get to the truth and express his anger.

Nic saw the stressing that the Snake was doing as he had actually tried to extend his hand. He was actually trying so it would behoove Nic for that sake of the city as well to at the very least meet the snake king halfway. Nic took the smallest sip of Cognac spiced with the heat of rage, he looked the snake over again and silently he took a breath. Picking up a golden phone he dialed a number that was for the Master of the City in New Orleans. He awaited the connection before he spoke in rapid French. Taking a deep breath he sighed.
“My friend I know that I do not nor should not ask this of you, as it may be perhaps stretching the boundaries of our friendship, however I am compelled to ask of you. It has come to my attention that you have currently had a member of the Chicago preternatural community visit your beautiful city. Is this so, as such could you provide me with the contact information for this person of interest. Our mutual interest wishes to open a line of dialog with that cities preternatural community regarding a matter most personal. As this is a minor request I understand and look forward to the time that I could repay this boon bestowed on me.”
Nicholas pasued and listened to the Gates response, he knew that it would be something that he would be less likely to enjoy, and he would be extending his name and city farther than he normally would have, however he did not want to repeat the same crimes by making himself a secular city.

Gates removed his phone from his pocket looking at the number a second longer than was necessary. Nothing good could come of the call said a small voice in his head. As he was dealing with the happenstances of Nadine’s seeming kidnapping he was more put out than he would like anyone to know. Dallas was more than an alliance and as such he did all that was in his power to insure that even if the city fell down around her that Nadine would be hale and as hearty as a rotting vampire ever truly was. Allowing his pique to fall away like tears in rain he answered. His voice betraying none of what he was feeling. “Bonjour…” 1He listened as Nicholas outlined what he needed in veiled terms. “Oui , cela est le cas.” 2Gates did not bother asking how a master so far removed from his city knew who might be within its confines. Much as he had his ways he was sure so too did others. Unlike most he would begrudge none for having the wherewithal to plan ahead. He relished the opportunity to match wits with those deserving and up to the challenge. Gates knew Michoals would prefer a simple yes or know but he drug out his answer by stating the obvious. 5” Gates having said his peace removed the phone from his ear. Looking towards the phone’s screen he paused returning it to the cradle from of his shoulder and jawline. “Adieu mon ami sait que cela va entraîner un petit peu plus devrait Je viens d'appeler des bienfaits impayés.” 6 Having spoken such a thing into existence Gates quietly hoped to never need to call in any of the favors he was due. Ending the call he looked over the intelligence Raven and Chidera sussed out comparing it with his data sources. He knew of whom Remy was hoping to contact. That snake will never learn he thought as he stood moving to the balcony formulating a plan. 1 Hello 2 Yes this is the case. 3 Perhaps. It will take some doing. A guest is after all a guest. 4 I fear that while the undertaking is but a small bit of involvement that what is being asked of you may not be something you can control should the news be received poorly …5 I will do as you ask provided that whatever the outcome you shield our asset from himself in this regard. A tool is only as strong as the hand that wields it or as skilled as the mind that controls the arm. 6 Goodbye my friend know that this will entail a small bit more should I come calling of boons unpaid .

Nic nodded as Gates closed the line between the two of them. He knew and completely understood what Gates meant he would have tread lightly as Remy was one who needed to be handled lightly. Nicholas could completely understand the need to know. It was the human condition. It was what separated them from the animals, however knowledge comes at a price.
Placing the phone back on the hook he looked at Remy he briefly wondered if him being a Nola born and native if he was able to follow the conversation. If so There might be a few questions that he might have swirling in his head. Not that Nic would be inclinded to answer, but he would know that they were present.
“It would seem that we will have our answer soon enough. And the price was indeed very costly.”
Nic picked up his drink and took another sip. It was a very costly gambit, however it was less costly and better than the alternative. Sadly heavy is always the head that wore the crown. It should have been apparent to the Kashyapa as he was a king of sorts as well. At this point there was nothing more that could be done until Gates got an answer back to him,
“Can I offer you a drink?”

Remy tried to not listen in but with his increased hearing made that very unlikely. He was a bit let down that they would choose French as their hushed tone. Remy was a born and bred denizen of the quarter to his way of thinking it would have been better had they simply put the conversation on speaker phone. Part of him understood that Gates was ever the showman and needed an audience he however had not expecting such stagecraft from Nicholas. The man was multifaceted to say the least. Either that or Remy was completely wrong in his summation of the man upon their first meeting. “Oui, il ne semble de cette façon. Aucune infraction, mais vous aime tous de parler par énigmes -vous pas ?.” 1He perhaps shouldn’t have spoken in French but it was very difficult not to use as he now knew that Nicholas while not a native speaker had more than a passing knowledge. His pronunciation held just enough accent that Remy knew he had not learned it from a French person or a native Nawlander. “I would appreciate that. Thank you. I will take a ‘Death in the Afternoon’ if your bartenders know the recipe.” 1 {Does this Pertain to You} “Yes it does seem that way. No offense but you all love to speak in riddles don’t you?”

Nic nodded, he figured that Remy would know French. It was just assumed he did. That was really the reason Nic had spoken to Gate in his native tongue, for a veil attempt to allow Remy to understand the inner working of a sociality that he wanted to try to skirt. He needed to know that every person believed that they knew more than the powers that be. Every human, mage, lycanthrope assumed that they knew more than the master of the city. We normally allowed them to get away with that insane thought as it was easier than to constantly oppress every action. Gates knew what was being planned and Remy knew what the response was.
“I will send word to have one made. I can only hope that he can figure it out if not then there is always…what is it that you all say… Google.”
Nic sent the order down and awaited the drinks. “I am sure that he will deliver the answers that we seek. All of my kind loves the idea of having a favor owed. “
Nicolas was in rare form today normally over sharing was not something he every did. No reason he didn’t, it was just not something he ever did. But this would fix the problem permanently so it was often time easier to be opaque. While this was not transparent for those who did not know it was close enough.

As Nicholas was sharing more than he had ever dreamed of or thought he was capable of Remy felt remiss in being his normal silent and perfunctory self when in his presence. However the idea of speaking freely to a master of the city seemed both exciting and very deadly. One lie or attempt at omission could very well cause untold misfortunes to befall him or his nest. Remy thought and running round the same nugget decided to err on the side of honesty.
“As we’re speaking honestly. I don’t. He for all the show of being a lover like that Master in St. Louis, I don’t believe he actually cares for the individual members of the city. The city as a whole maybe, maybe not. My money is he comes back with a polite no can’t help you.”
He let those word sink in before moving on as he hadn’t been stopped nor had Nicholas made any outward sign of dismissal. “If he does as I expect him to behave what then? Are you willing to allow me to either go and make the truth reveal itself or perhaps bad idea that it is go visit him in Chicago?“
He knew he was asking a question Nicholas would be loathed to answer. So instead of waiting he went on. “I know you are extending yourself as it is but if I retrieve this information I know that not only will you have me but there is a Lukoi Pack that would be indebted to you for your help. My friend has a brother who is the head of a pack and would willingly come to you and your city or at least loan you the use of some of their strong wolves should you need them.”
