Nicolas stood looking over the banister. Staring down at the myriad of party goers. Nicholas had managed to do what most thought was impossible, he turned his ecliptic nightclub into what the nightclub scene calls a happening scene. Having a few celebs and a few A listers to come and splurge, turned this place into the place to go and be seen. So many posers haunt this place hoping against hope to catch the eye of someone famous. Nicholas had seen this scene play out since the 30’s it was truly the same, human flock to places where the stars aligned themselves hoping to get someone to take notice.
The damned Arcadians have the film industry within a strangle hold. A human had only a ghostly chance to survive against that level of competition. So they run like rats eating the scraps off of the table as the hoping to please the cities masters. The only reason why any of them have a chance was because of Nicholas. He held the town’s scene and preternatural community together with electrical tape and dreams. The Arcadians cry foul to the media playing them against any other community casting them in a negative light. If king Taranus had not gotten himself exiled. By now there would not be anyone in Hollywood except the Fae. That one event kept the Fae from consuming the entirety of Hollywood. It was pressure applied and the use of misdirection that kept the Fae off balance. Nicolas wondered how much longer could that be levelaged against the Fae, before a new strategy would have to be created. Without creating a specticul Nicholas had to figure a way to keep them off guard. That is until the ranks of the lycanthrope leaders filled in then they can police their own people.
One of the bouncers approached from behind. Without turning Nicholas raised a finger indicating the bouncer was to stop moving.
“Umm boss. There is someone here to see you?”
“And they are?”
“They mentioned they were from Paramount sir.”
“I see send them in. ”
Nicholas awaited for the person to have a seat. It was a woman mid thirties. This deal was at least three years in the making. It would tighten the hold that Nicholas had over the movie industry and loosen the Arcadians…. Good news he had hoped. Which was why Nicholas had to pause to keep from shattering the woman like a glass vase when she uttered that the Fae had blocked the merger. The president had vetoed the stock sale. Damn his lover was a Fae he figured that she would see something was amiss He had only hoped that she would have saw it too late after the stock was sold.
Luckily Nicolas used shell companies, which traced to the U.K instead of the Master of the glittering city. However the silver lining was that while the sale was blocked three of the next six movies would bomb causing a power grab not seen since 2001. The money they are paying can only go so far when the talent pool available to them is so poor.
Nicholas smiled as he returned to looking at the crowd the woman understanding that the conversation ended when she delivered the news. His mind wondering what he could start to keep the Arcadians guessing and off balance.

Kai had no idea who's party this was or what it was for, his pr person said to make an appearance so he did. The handsome leading man had a buddy cop movie out that was doing well so he was very hot right now. Careful to keep his glamour about him, it wasn't hard at all being part human any way. Just a change of eye color and some superficial flaws that kept him from looking to perfect. He hardly ever sat in a makeup chair but the little details kept every one believing he was one of them.
Designer jeans caressed his lower body perfectly and the pale blue button down shirt with the arms pushed up lended to the devil may care attitude he liked to project. Hair artfully spiked and , that dazzling smile were his major draw while his shirt was on with it off it was clear why the movies with him half naked made the most. Stopping for pictures as ladies gushed and clamoured trying to get his attentions. Some whispering things in his ear that raised his brow and made him grin seductively in return but it was all a facade he had no real intention of taking any of them home.
The man guarded his personal life like it was fort knox often times feeding press anonymous wrong tidbits to keep them chasing their tails, the women he was romantically linked to often times were just good pr moves for both and he'd wine and dine and parade them for a sufficient amount of time then amicably but publicly break it off. It was the rare one he actually bedded and in those cases he'd been extremely careful not to repeat the mistakes of his father. The only broken hearts were on screen or fans who lusted after him but wouldn't ever get the chance.

Nicholas watched entranced as the energy in the room changed it was as sudden as it was perceptible. The crowd began to move in the direction towards the door. A puddle of the human women surrounded some guy, Nicolas waited as the women preened around the male, it took five minutes before the crowd thinned enough to catch a glance at the man’s face. it was a budding upstart of a star. He vaguely remembered his name as the stars changed with the seasons. Nicholas remembered the boy’s mother, for a human she wasn’t bad, he even remembered her being in this very club. Sweet girl however the rags tore into her when she had the boy.
She was the embodiment of the small town girl story. Nicholas remembered it well. The boy’s energy told Nicholas as he needed to know about him. Another Arcadian bastard, Ah well his power did not scream so that was always nice, and what was even better was that he was just a pup, not even a babe as the Fae measured things. Nicolas wanted to watch the boy, he could have some use. Maybe not now but Nicolas was not fool enough to miss the boy’s potential. In few years the courts will come an call on the boy, Maybe if he could understand that the Fae was in danger of a war that would be devastating to everyone. They might be more willing to back off.
Nicholas raised a finger at one of the bouncers, once the bouncer came over Nicholas pointed down to the boy,
“Refresh my memory, who is he again?”
Nicholas was careful to not give any indication of his knowledge of the boy, as well as his tone being just as flat and uncaring. Just the sound of someone who was collecting data. Nicholas schooled his face and voice long ago to remain as flat as level ground.

The bouncer snapped to it and looked where he was looking then back" He's Kai Tiburon , the guy from that movie the email, and magic stick, and dance battle LA..currently in a buddy cop movie with the fat curly jewish guy..shane underhill"
Kai meanwhile stopped to taste the food and drank the drink handed to him. picking a young pretty brunette to dance with he moved smoothly across the dance floor proving the rumors of a dance double were false. He could really do the moves from the movie, giving her a thrill as he grinded undulated and spun her. Switching partners over and over until he'd had a half dozen then winking at them all and heading for a couch to lounge. Snapping for his phone a smart looking some what plainly dressed female in glasses handed him the cell. Scrolling through it then texting some and handing it back he smiled at her and gave her a thumbs up.
It was then he felt it, he'd felt it before in clubs after dark and knew they existed. Vampire? Looking for the source of it he scanned with his eyes and spotted the man up away from every one with his back to the gathering somewhat. So thats who this party was about and it made him smirk , He didn't know about the beef between the vamps and his fathers people. He didnt even know them really but had been approached by a few "cast offs" of the mounds and they had tried to tell him things he wasn't trying to hear. He just knew he was not fully human and that was ok enough for him right now.

Nicholas took in the information without a word as he had followed the child since his mother was an actress but it often paid for Nicholas to not get too high or too low on any celebrity, the came to his city to find what they didn’t have and often times lost even more than what they came with. It was one of the few parallels that Nicholas would allow with the other Sin City. Vegas was a place that Nicholas would have taken over if he did not have Hollywood. There were mirror reflections of one another they were just less tactful more abrasive about how they did things. Nicholas looked at Vegas as the little bastard brother to L.A. Vegas just could not walk in his shoes. Bringing him back to the here and now.
“I see, Well it would be rude to ignore our guest, Bring the budding star here.”
The boy had the fresh face of a person who did not know the strife of war. The beast that man truly was, he was just another piece of innocent flesh that would eventually be fed into the machine. Chewed up and spit out. It was the way of things in the city. Innocence is ground into a fine powder and ingested like a drug. Everyone knows this goes on, just very few are willing to verbalize it. That was why things were as they were Nicholas understood the way of things and played the game accordingly.
The boy was escorted into the room Nicholas could have turned so that he faced the boy, however he felt this was more pointed of an introduction Still seated with his back to the door. He waited a few seconds before he said anything
“Kai Tiburon. The next big thing to explode from the screen since Brad Pitt. Come, sit with me. What brings you to my quaint little club?”
Nicholas invited him with a smile that actors trained for years to imitate. Awaiting his reply.

Hearing his invitation he got up shook a few hands then fallowed. Then getting there he heard the voice and quirked a brow but the time he was facing the man his usual chilly the most smile was in place. Nodding" That would be me, thanks for the invite this place is definitely swank"
He looked innocent smelled brand new but the boy was older then most humans in the room, he'd seen what his home city could do. He'd done the child star circuit under an assumed name so no one would realize just how old he really was. Sitting in the offered place he smirked" You know how things here go publicist tells me wear this go here driver drives me I show up smile pose drink eat smile pose flirt and slip out back to my solitary existence much like batman"
At first glance one would wonder if maybe he was just good looking and none to bright but the stupid surfer persona was a shell a protection of the man in it. He watched the world from the safety of it and it was sort of fun to give people the rope they hung them selves with later. So thats what he fed the vampire in front of him dumb handsome innocent meatbag with fairy sprinkles.

Nicholas allowed his smile to wilt just a bit around the edges.
“Yes I know your agent from a friend of a friend, I was actually surprised that it took them this long before they had you come. So tell me do you plan to be here long I could roll out the red carpet for you and a few of your…friends”
Nicholas slowly allowed his facial features to slide back into their natural lines. His mind began thinking of the different uses that this kid could be for. Perhaps have the P.R machine to send texts to all the human females from his fan club that he was here and the Vampires can increase their selections. As long as there was no fatalities Nicholas did not mind indulging his Kiss. Doing things like this increased their loyalty so Kai would at the least be useful for that. Nicholas had someone in mind for his own meal but she could wait a bit longer in his office.
Nicholas decided that now was as good as any to change tactics.
“I am glad that you are not affiliated with your cousins as that could be problematic. You being here, with the way they have come to treat the other communities. I am sure you have come to know they can be…exacting when they put their minds to it.”
Nicholas watched the boy’s reactions, Nicholas had come to expect three different outcomes and based on those outcomes he could peg the person in question. This kid could become either useful or just used depending on what his choices were. Nicholas raised a hand and rotated it in a swirling motion as if he held a wine glass. Never quite taking his eyes off of Kai.
“So what would you like to drink. Since you are new to the scene the first drink is on the house.”

Alexander stood near the bar sipping his club soda. He wanted something stronger but he had a race at midnight. It was an good old fashioned duel run. He was actually looking forward to it as there was no set course it was an A to B fast as you can and back. From Luyken down to the Valley. He rarely did such races these days but it was for an old friend Shango of the Brawlers. Not that was motivation enough supposedly the victim was a former R66 guy who’d been dropped from the club for attempting to abuse one of the sister chapters. That bit of information made it worth his attention. He planned on eating the guy up and maybe giving him a little road rash to help him keep his nose clean. At ten stacks it was doubly worth his time.
Sadly he had been asked to swing by and make an appearance. One of the directors he was representing in a civil suit wanted his eye on the night’s events. So here he was watching his client and watching his entourage even closer. He didn’t interact with them as he knew if you stayed too close to the stage you couldn’t really see the show and that’s when they had you. He wasn’t a private investigator but he had cross examined enough that he had an even more discerning eye for the subtleties of human interactions down to a science.
He’d watched the vampire scan the crowd repeatedly as if he was looking for something. He didn’t know for sure if the man was the illusive Master of the City or not but he definitely had the carriage of someone who was accustomed to power. It made his skin crawl so he did his best to put it out of his mind the moment he did he’d spot him again looking down over the crowd of fame idolators.

Ah so thats what this was about he was being felt out to see if he threw his lot in one one side or the other. The dopey grin never left his face in fact it deepened." you dont need to go outta your way man honest by the time them ladies got here it would be time for me to go to the next one I have a quota of at least three on the weekends and a personal appearance at a restaurant the day after."
Then the questions of his kin, he shrugged haphazardly" they don't do much for me I'm not pure enough I guess so some want stuff from me others want nothing to do with me I've never met my dad so I wouldn't really consider them family not like they show up on holidays and eat with me or gave a half a rats rear about me as far as I can tell."
He meant most of that because in honesty they had not visited or reached out, it was only recently that the new princess having taken over or what ever had gotten him any sort of being approached. Still the one person he wanted to speak to most if he was alive had not acknowledged him. He knew a user when he met one tho and this man had it stamped all over him, but he would play along like a good man like expected.
" a moscato and vodka mix please light on the ice, dont wanna get to drunk got lines tomorrow "

Nicholas returned the smile, it was a genuine smile that crossed his face.
“Well if you are not spying, and you mean me or any of mine any harm or ill will, Welcome to my club. Enjoy your evening as a parting gift one of the VIP rooms are open to you while you are here.” Nicholas did not feel a lie from the man, so for now he accepted the words as truth. Scanning the crowd his eyes fell back on the guy, he was in the back trying a little too hard to be in invisible in the crowd. He swept the room a few more times but his eyes came back to the guy in the back.
“If you will excuse me, I have something pressing that I really must attend to. Your drink will arrive shortly.”
With that Nicholas stood and walked toward the door. Leaving Kai there in the suite. As he walked away from the suites towards where the guy was, he almost wondered if Kai would hang around the club or would he disappear in the dark like the light of a snuffed candle. If he did decide to hang around so much the better the text messages were already sent and the women would arrive soon enough.
Approaching the person he felt the all too familiar humanness about him. He slowed to the side of him. Ordered a drink leaning against the bar he paused making sure the red wine was spiked with blood.
“Did you enjoy the show?”
He asked simply wondering who he was and what was brought him to the club.

Not that he was more perceptive than many he was however perceptive. He’d been watching the director but also the vampire. He knew the law so he was as safe as anyone could be. He however knew it was always a good idea to keep an eye on the predator in a room. In the courtroom that was him. Here however it was apparent that the vampire in question was the shark.
“It was…Informative.”
Ghost congratulated himself for having spotted the man moving closer. It wasn’t as if he was hiding or being stealthy but as quiet as he was it would be hard for anyone not being aware to have noticed him. Let alone remained as nonplussed as ghost affectation.
“Alexander Vainquer at your service.” He said offering his free hand.
It was a small gesture one he wasn’t sure he should make but the alternative would have been worse. If the normal Hollywood types could hold a grudge over wearing last season’s designs to their house party he was sure that Hollywood vampires would hold a grudge over not being greeted properly.
He hadn’t thought that vampires could normally drink but this was not the time to ask questions of that nature. He nodded as the director and his retinue crept out of a side entrance to avoid the photographers. He always found that funny how celebrities worked so hard to make a name and earn recognition yet fought tooth and nail to hold onto their anonymity once they attained it.

Kai smiled and nodded to the man watching him leave, there wasn't anything to say to that. Debating on staying but he would at least stay and drink his drink. When ever it got there, eyes watching the dance floor he noticed there was an upswing of slowly trickling in females. All dressed to kill and looking for something. Smirking seems the man worked fast, drink arrived he sat sipping it and then motioned to the tender" I suppose I can great a few but then I need to go so have some one send a few up please"
Waiting as some one worked through the crowd picking some of every sort of girl blond red headed brunette latina asian and brought them up to the suite. They gushed and fawned and hugged and touched and took pictured which he graciously posed for getting a bit high off their adoration. There was dancing and making out of the girl on girl variety to impress him, which he enjoyed but didn't let sway him. After he'd found him self bored again and his high waning he nodded to the tender and slipped away while they were distracted.
Heading down to find his pr girl and head tilting to the door they would slip out and into the night. He'd spotted the vampire talking to a man and had noticed him but not lingered to feel him out it was time to go.

Nicholas accepted the outstretched hand. It would have been rude not to. The human’s name rung a bell, he travelled in the law circles It was indeed a strange place for an attorney to gather, as the normal clientele was not quite the same as this lawyer, it was curious indeed. The man had an air about him that said he understood what practicality was. He was not afraid to do what was needed in a situation.
“Your reputation precedes you I and the humble owner of this place my name is Nicholas. What brings you to my antiquated little club?”
Nicholas could see in the human’s eyes as he visually followed Kai out the door that he quarry was moving away without him. as to get a better vantage point of the chase Nicholas moved aside. I take it the Actor has just left the building I would assume that you may want to hurry if you would have any hope of catching him.
Nicholas smiled a satisfied grin. His little town was starting to liven up. It had been awhile since anything of interest had happened in L.A. and the pulse was so slow as of late that he wondered if the Fae had killed his town. But L.A always had a way about her she would come back at the oddest moments. Making those who was strong enough to weather the storm even stronger and those that couldn’t were swept away in the current. Such things were how L.A survived only the new comers were shocked..
“I think now would be a good time for me to attend to other guest leave your card with the bartender if you would. “

He didn’t think his little fly by night firm was of any real note within the preternatural community. He hoped it wasn’t as much smoke as was usually blown in this town. All the same he moved conversationally as if what he was being told was the truth.
“I don’t know if that’s a good thing.” Ghost replied to his reputation a smile in place. “Reputations can be hard things to live up to or hard things to live down,; Either way they’re all too much work to really get a hold of. But I try to win.”
Catching Nicholas’s small sidestep he smiled brighter. Seems if he if not his skills was of note. He wasn’t fool enough to take the motion as anything but an invitation or a last warning Ghost did what he always did when money presented itself. He weighed his chances and took a leap.
“Actually my client and his entourage had just left. But I see you’re wooing the new crop of talent. Maybe I will leave my card you will definitely need my services if you are going to dance with those glittering and twinkly fame addicts. Movie stars and top billers can be bratty sharks shrewd as the day is long and twice as hungry. Though I can do you one better…” Sitting his drink down he removed a card from his card holder handing it to Nicholas. It was a plain white card embossed with his Name his phone number and an email address. Unlike the razzle dazzle crowd he was a one man shop with tons of associates on retainers. As he worked out of his inherited 1965 Cadillac Deville he was mobile. He was lightening quick compared to those other firms. He was sure that Nicholas the club owner would need him. NIcholas the vampire maybe not.
