From April to June two full moons had come and gone. Dawn was approaching her third and even as she chomped at the bit to move things along Lord held her off as the fastest person brought over died just as quickly. He didn’t want her to burn out so he immersed her ever more in the lore, lessons and lifestyle of lions. She was already a survivor so some lessons came easier. However patience was ever the most difficult for every lion.
For Dawn it was even harder. Standing in the hallowed grounds the moon rising he called the other lions to him it was time. Patience would have to wait. The Triad had taken two huge hits to their organization none of them tdue him or the Pride it was as if someone was staging tactical assaults on their operations. Pressed as they were it wouldn’t be long before they lashed out and he knew they needed to be ready. February was surprisingly quiet about the whole situation. He’d even stopped arriving for intelligence debriefings. It had Lord worried about his promise to Sasha. So now was the time.

The past two months had been hard for her. She tried to learn soak it in, the fables, stories ,lore. She had become a walking lion shifter encyclopedia. Still hard to wait, she'd had a couple more scuffles, people who thought she'd gotten lucky.
She caught a broken finger and some bruises but mostly she'd dropped each one. Making the last tap out, with tears in her eyes. The males didn't challenge her it was just how things worked. Lord had made it clear to them, they would see him.
D had gone to the club and slowly stepped back. Negotiating to hand a bit of responsibility over. She'd picked her successor. They were aware that she was going to do something she might not survive but not what.
So if she didn't return they would bury her kut treat her like she'd died riding and move on. If she did they would figure it out but she'd probably not be vice president any more.
As they gathered in the holy place she took a breath this was it. Wearing shorts a tank hsir up and barefoot so what ever got bloody wouldnt mess up good clothes.

“Alright so you all know why we’re here.” Pointing to Dawn and the three candidates with her. “They think they’re ready. We’re gonna see.”
He let the inherent threat sit there. It was a threat for sure what he couldn’t and wouldn’t mention was they’d be fighting for their lives. If they failed they wouldn’t be heard from ever again. He hoped Dawn would come out ahead alive and a new lioness. However, his hopes aside he wouldn’t stack the deck in her favor.
“Its simple get to the safezone through there. Outside the safezone you are prey. You have a fifteen minute headstart…starting now. Run!!! Soon to be lions run for your lives.”
The rules were simple hunt and be hunted however they chose to accomplish one without falling was up to them. Xander had surprised everyone setting traps and taking down two of the Pride and stayed near the safezone venturing out to hunt the ions themselves he was nearly killed as he got too excited and left himself open to counter tracking. He was bled something good almost becoming Alex’s lunch. They were now best friends.

To hell with everybody else she booked hard. Just like jurassic park you don't have to be the fastest just faster than the t-rex . She was used to working out and stamina some of the others she noticed relied on looks or weapons.
She knew eventually shed have to catch an attack. For now though she would look for trees and she got in as quick as she could. Climbing the trees to get a lay of the land. They were in bunches not totally close enough for her to go tree to tree in all places.
She managed a few checking where others are, then getting maybe a twenty foot dash to safety she noticed some of the lions were camped out waiting. Clever, so now she'd wait.
The first of the other three looking ragged and bloody tried for safety and the lions she was watching converged catching him. The sound of shredding flesh was gross but she shrugged.
The others tried two fell one making it. To safety but she used that window of the hunters being distracted to slip to the ground. She ran and last minute two turned and came for her. She jumped and they clawed catching her.
The pain was immediate, they hit bone. Teeth found her shoulder and calves. Tgey dragged at her trying to keep her from crossing the line. She rolled over blood leaving her body. Vision getting dark around the edges. No she came this far, she wouldn't let them.
Kicking thrashing and pulling. Flesh torn away she rolled before they could leap on her again. Crawling fast slipping in her own blood. She saw the safe space and pushed till she made it just missing the swipe.
She looked the lioness whos gotten a taste of her in the eyes and faded to black. Hoping as she did that she'd wake up, cause there was alot of blood loss.

Lord circumvented the Pride circling wide running full out he was there in the safe zone watching and an urge was in him to wreak havoc. He restrained himself but just barely. When Dawn went down. He snatched her fully into the zone Isabelle wanted to break the rule and take her completely out as she was the only to cross the line. He opened a vein and furthered her infection as well as sped her healing. Licking the blood away he stood carrying her further into the zone leaving her against a tree measuring her breath insuring she would survive. Once sure he turned to the pride waiting just outside the first portion of the nights hunt begun he looked out at the slew of glowing eyes then charged them. Shifting as he went form man to beast a roar growing on his tongue. They were one more lion strong the night was a success. Now it was time to feast to fight to mate The moon was nearly at its apex and before it waned all those moments would be had by all those who chose them. The Full moon was a chance to revel in the beast the feel of fur the drives of the animalistic.

There was nothing she was nothing, darkness silence then she was flame burning hot boiling all over. Eyes flying open it hurt so bad. Her skin hurt hair hurt lungs hurt.
The tree at her back felt like razors but she couldn't move her eyes faught for focus. Then it occurred to D that she was alive sort of. If she could work her lungs past breathing she would have laughed.
Turning her head she realized she was alone but heard them all the lions out there eating. That startled her for a second the others. They were eating gary and leela and that other girl who had been very goth and very to her self. Marla? That could have been her. She slumped to throw up.
Now her head pounded but she was alive and something told her it worked. She could feel it there in side her eyes in the dark where there had been none. She wasn't ready yet D could tell she needed time. Sighing as things knitted on her body achingly slow but she wouldn't scar.

There were certain rules of order when attacking a larger force. Remy followed them as if his life depended on it. It did. Baby D had been missing nearly from the moment he left her but he kept out hope that she was okay. Not great just okay he couldn’t hope for more and he couldn’t believe less. It was a fine line he walked. He’d sent emails and texts to the Krewe back home but as of yet it wasn’t mission critical that anyone worry or mourn. He’d trust each of them in a pinch but the larger the force he brought to bear the more chances for errors.
As it stood his actions were already catching on. He was showing that the Triad was not as insurmountable as they or anyone else believed. The balaclava helped but he was still risking the ire of Nicholas and as such he wouldn’t bring anyone else into this mess just yet. He was sure if he kept hurting their business costing them money he would eventually get to the bottom of things. He would get Baby D back and they would continue bleed. If he had to he would bleed hem dry and get out of dodge before the Master caught on that it was only one man. That it was only him waging a war that so far had racked up few deaths but lots of collateral loss.

What felt like days was only a few hours as she managed to work her self to her working leg and find a branch thick enough for her to get support. Taking the way away from the pride and around she made it to the compound and dragged her self up to her room.
The bleeding had stopped a while ago now she just itched. It felt like fire ants had gotten under her skin. Crawling biting heat, she took off the tatters and filled the bath with scalding water. Her instinct had been for cool but lord had drilled into her cold bad warm and hot better for healing.
As it came down from scalding she slid in and couldn't stifle the scream. Finally the traces soaked off and the muscles not knitting calmed. Eyes closing focusing on the eyes in the dark, trying to welome it.

The Pride fed and most of its urges sated he made his way back to the house shifting as he moved. The others finding places to sleep away the beast or preparing to shift again and make their way into the house he tracked Dawn by her scent the now feral musk of Pride coasting through her veins. She would shift the next full moon and that would be the true joining. Over the next few weeks she would have her drives increase blood sex hunting and the need t occasionally just run. It was a heady moment in her life he and the Pride had prepared her as much as they could. They insured she was as ready as possible to cling to life, to embrace it, and fight for it.
He went to his room first changing in to joggers and a wife-beater tee. Insuring the shower had done its job of cleaning away every speck of blood he met his eyes in the mirror. He thought of checking his phone but no not tonight. No business save the Pride. Easing to her room he heard the sound of water softly lapping and went in. “You handled yourself pretty well Red. How do you feel?” he asked sitting on the edge of the tub allowing proximity to say even more.

D of weeks ago would have scrambled to cover her self as he came in and sat close. The pain exhaustion and familiarity of the pride made her lie still and just open her eyes.
She managed a chuckle" like there is acid in my veins and my skin its own living being"
Dunking to rewet her hair then up again his scent was stronger now he felt diffrent but the same. " shes there in side. I've seen her eyes in the dark. Scared but curious quiet but restless"
D knew that next month she'd come, she'd escape and it would probably hurt like hell. That made her laugh gently couldn't be worse right?

Lord chuckled it was a good metaphor and one that would get stronger as her newborn lioness stirred stretched and sought a way to escape. Unlike other non-metaphysical newborns her lioness was spun whole cloth into existence fully matured yet with no way to interact just yet. It was a maddening time as those urges and drives that predatory simplicity found leash and gained not only momentum but strength. And Midsummer was quickly approaching it would be even stronger.
" Yeah, sounds about right. Just do me a favor don’t forget that moment when you were drifting into the darkness. That need to fight is whats going to save you." Reaching down into the water he took her knitting calf it was the worst of her injuries. He looked it over as his hands moved a hairs breath away form touching. Yes she would be a strong lioness that was for sure. Bravado and the drive to get along to get along often times gave each of them the wrong sense of where they stood in the pecking order. The one true measure for the capacity for strength was in fact healing. Nothing was more honest than that. Even with a shadow cat in her veins it was clear to him where Dawn would settle in the pecking order of things if given time.
" Stretch as often as you can sometimes healing faster is more a curse than a blessing. If you don’t stretch it would heal shorter and tight it will limit your movement. Change how you walk and the correcting of that is worse than the injury."
Easing her leg back into the water he looked around the restroom. “You need tea at the very least. Warm in and out. Let me go find some for you…”

Studying the man who was her rex their lives linked in each other's forever even if she moved away. His touch was gentle sure and not even the least bit sexual, listening to him she nodded.
Having figured as much she'd planned to do some squats and lunges after the bath but was glad for the confirmation "thank you I will remember. Um I know it's new but how soon can I go out?..I should tell certain someones that I am alive or bad shit will happen if it hasn't already."
She knew beau was watching out for her and if he suspected shed been taken all hell would break loose.

Lord stopped in the doorway. It was silly of him to have not looked into things. But in his defense he was worried more about a great defense and not drawing any more attention to the Pride. But having all but circled the wagons was no excuse. He chuckled at his silliness and her having shed light on several issues. All in one fell swoop.
Turning back he looked at her comparing what he knew of the Kashayapa. "Yeah, been meaning to bring that up. Your boy done caused all sorts of trouble for the Triad. He done shut they shit way down. Popping up out of the blue and wrecking shop all without managing to kill anybody yet. Don’t know how he does it but the boy is bad and then some. Got them running on fumes and chasing vapors. Sooner or later though they gonna step things up and force him to do something worse or get buried. Probably a good idea you call that fool."
Leaving he went and prepared tea. Taking longer than was necessary to give her time to get out of the tub and stretch some before returning.

Eyes wide at his telling her about remy. She winced but smiled" yeah I'll call"
After he left she washed climbed out and dried gingerly to not irritate her bruises and dressed in light weight black shorts and wine tank. Slowly at first then easier she squated then lunged it hurt to do but eventually her body got the hint.
After thirty each the side and the squats d sat to call her crazy family" come on remy pick up"

Remy usually left his phone but as tonight was the full moon he’d kept it near at hand. Having scared up one fine hell of a hunt and the rest of the nest sated sleeping it off in various states of shifting or not He sat watching over them as they slept. His phone gently chiming a Creole love song. Most folks wouldn’t ever be able to place it he didn’t bother looking at caller ID only the Krewe had that ring tone. Which was hard to keep up with as they all save Del changed numbers at the drop of a hat or change of wind.
“Yeah…” He answered his voice sounding far too restful for his liking. He sat up straight instead of reclined. It was a sign that he too was a good deal more sated than should be for the overwatch. Unlike the other more Apex predatory lycanthropes Snakes didn’t so much have a holy of holies they carried the spirits of their dead with them in their scales each sloughing based on strength either cemented that connection or lost it. His nest were transplants by and large which meant their connection to the long departed was fleeting their home hundreds of miles away. As such their hunt tonight had been devouring the previous nest in whole absorbing the weight and history of what had been here on the coast.
It was a rough time to be a Snake and a great time to be a snake the duality of that phrase and the reality of the moment was not lost on him. Twice now he had been unto death of the snakes of the coast. This time however he was prepared for the responsibility of his actions. Having vetted their businesses and routed them after having offered and been denied.
